About the Warwick Lacrosse Program

The history of Warwick Valley Lacrosse can be traced back to the early 2000s, when the sport started to gain popularity in Orange County. The Varsity program was first headed by Tony Verboys, it came about as a result of the youth club created by John Kolesar, John Peruso, and Joe Sullivan. The Warwick Valley Lacrosse program was established with the goal of providing young players in the area with the opportunity to learn and play the sport.

Warwick Lacrosse has always had a goal of fostering a love of the game and a love of community. Naturally, this was accomplished with the help of dedicated coaches and parents, and after a few years, the program began to grow and develop.

As the program grew, it began to attract more talented players and the team's competitiveness improved. In 2009, Warwick Valley won its first Sectional Championship under Coach Graig McElroy and started to become a force to be reckoned with in the local area. The team has since won 7 more Sectional Championships in 2010, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021 & 2022.

The same can be said for the girl's program with Coach Denis O’Connor, who has won 4 of the last 5 Sectional Championships. (‘17, ‘18, ‘19, ‘22)

More important than the wins, the program has sent combined 50+ players to the NCAA D1-D3 level for both boys & girls. This has helped numerous Warwick student-athletes to better their academic and athletic careers. Warwick Lacrosse has always made a point to tailor its game to the players within the program and help them to become the best possible versions of themselves.

Over the years, Warwick Valley Lacrosse has continued to evolve and grow. The program now has a thriving youth program and a competitive varsity team. The varsity team is in direct correlation with the youth program. With the help of dedicated youth coaches and board members, we have been very lucky here in Warwick Valley.

The goal of Warwick Lacrosse is and has always been to give our players & families the best lacrosse experience possible. We do this by fostering a love of the game and a love of community.

Long term we want to help guide our players into young men & women that will be productive members of society and positive role models for their peers and future generations of 'Cats Laxers.
